To Dad

Dad, this Sunday is a day to celebrate you, so I'm going to take just a quick minute to say thanks and celebrate you.

Thank you for being my dad. I know that wasn't and probably still isn't very easy to do at times. Thank you for being honest and real and vulnerable - you'll probably never know just how much I appreciate that about you, even if we disagree on some things that you're honest or real about. =)
Dad, you've always loved me in spite of me. Regardless of any arguments or disagreements we've had, any rebelliousness I've shown, any unkind and unlovely words that have escaped my mouth at your cost - you were and are still willing to forgive it all and move on because you love me. We may not agree on a lot of things, but it's sweet that I can still share my passions and thoughts with you without fear.
Thanks for loving me and all your children with an unconditional love.

You're not a perfect dad (who is?), but you're my dad, and I think that you are simply awesome, wonderful, amazing and just flat out cool. It's not just any dad that can make original jingles to sing to their kids about brushing their teeth and going to the bathroom before bedtime. So here's to you, Dad! I hope you've enjoyed your 30 years of fatherhood so far...there's a lot more to go!

Dreaming of...Gardens!

Here are a few snapshots from the Myriad Botanical Gardens in OKC. Isn't is such a pretty place? The Crystal Bridge is a-mazing inside! It costs maybe 5 or 6 bucks to get in, but it's absolutely lovely (if you're into looking at plants and all). We didn't go in this time around because I'm pretty sure T and B could care less about looking at plants.

And how beautiful are those raised beds in that last picture? Someday, you will be mine, raised beds!

Soda Pops

 

This weekend, Kev and I took my little brothers to Pops in Arcadia, OK. It was our second time to go together, and we had a blast. We loved looking at all the hundreds of varieties of bottled soda they offered. It was funny to see people end up getting a Sprite or Dr. Pepper when they had so many other options. Oh well! If you haven't been, it's totally worth the 1.5 hour drive from Tulsa.

We also spent a few hours in OKC beforehand, checking out the downtown, Thunder Alley, the OKC memorial, and a few other sites. Maybe I'll get around to posting those pictures in a few days.

I notice Kevin is not in any of these photos...he was there, I promise! (Sorry Kev!)
