Family Time

Re-united and it feels so good! (so good that we want to wrestle each other)

My daily place of comfort

Catherine of Winged Writer has mentioned her love of her porch lately on her blog, and it's inspired me to post a little something about mine. I never really had a porch I could actually enjoy until Kev and I moved into our new (old) house. It's slowly becoming my favorite aspect of our home, and if we ever move, a front porch is a must. Although it isn't too pretty and there is really nothing spectacular about it, just being able to sit in the sun and feel that fall breeze blowing on my toes sends warmth through my whole body.
Nikoo likes to watch me from the window. She's a sunbather.

Something old...

I love the flea market. I have this affinity for old things, and I can't find a better place than the flea market to quench my desire for them. When I go, I go with the mentality that older is better, especially with furniture. It's just made better and seems to have more character than an armchair I could get at Furniture Mart for twice the price (and it's unique!).

I love the vintage western feel of this leather armchair. It reminds me of my Grandpa. I picked it up for 35 dollars.
And the nail-head trim.... Yes!
How great is this swivel chair? I swiped it up for a mere 20 bucks!

If you're in Tulsa, I'd suggest you stop by the Tulsa Flea Market located on the Fairgrounds. It's every Saturday from 8-4. Who knows what you might find!

Daydreaming

I'm daydreaming about my future garden today. Okra, tomatoes, melons, cucumbers, potatoes, berries....the possibilities are endless. This weather has me in the best mood, and I can't wait to get to work! There's lots of preparation to do before next spring.

Check back later to see what I scored at the flea market this weekend. I love finding a good deal.

Un, Deux, Trois

Things are kind of quiet around here at 25th and Skillern, but I must admit it's been kind of nice. As rewarding as it has been to finish up major projects around the house, it's also nice to not feel like there are any deadlines for completion.
Eventually, I hope to take more pictures of all the DIY projects we've been doing so I can do step by step tutorials. Time will tell if that actually happens, though.

My garden hasn't been flourishing like I anticipated. With scorching temperatures in the 100's and my squash bug epidemic, it's starting to look a little rough. I had to say adios to my squash. I was sad about losing the plants, but I got a lot of fruit from them.  My cantaloupe is thriving, though. I should be ready to harvest some in the next week. As far as tomatoes, is there anyone out there who is getting any tomatoes this summer? I think I got 2 cherry tomatoes over the past 3 months. Oh well.

In other news, our friend, roommate, and previous french professor, Melissa, gave me and my sis, Erika introductory french lessons yesterday. I think the lesson turned into more of a competition for Erika and me, but I think that provoked learning for both of us. I can now count to 10 without help and to 50 with some assistance. Oui oui.

Our labor day is going to be very low-key. I think a trip to the grandparents might be in the forecast, but perhaps just a day with good friends. Any fun festivities planned for you all? Enjoy your 3 day weekend!

I'll leave you with an adorable picture of Kev and my baby brother post-Scales of Motion-ifying their skateboards. So sweet.
